Dubai is one of the seven emirates and most populous city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is located along the southern coast of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula. The city of Dubai is sometimes called “Dubai city” to distinguish it from the emirate.The emirate’s revenues are from trade, real estate and financial services. Revenues from petroleum and natural gas contribute less than 6% of Dubai’s US$ 37 billion economy. Real estate and construction, on the other hand, contributed 22.6% to the economy in 2005, before the current large-scale construction boom. Dubai has attracted worldwide attention through innovative real estate projects and sports events.

Heading down Sheik Zaed Road you pass torrents of buildings under various stages of construction.
Perth currently is known for its booming economy, yet in comparision to somewhere like Dubai, it does leave you with a sense of perspective… The only thing it reminded me off was those sci-fi films where Earth ruins the planet, and flys off to some semi habitable planet, they setup shop and colonize the place within 6 months or so. Dubai is allot like that. Its as if Earth had to leave somewhere else…and they are all just setting up down Sheik Zaied Road.

28 Jul 2008, Hamburg, Germany — Flight attendant Natalie smiles in the economy class of the first Airbus A380, which was delivered to Arabian airline ‘Emirates’ at the Airbus plant in Hamburg, Germany. The first scheduled flight will take place on 01 August, flying from Dubai to New York. ‘Emirates’ ordered 58 copies of the world’s largest passenger aircraft.
